Adult Acne Treatment...
Most people think that only teenagers are affected by acne. But it's a fact that quiet a high percentage of adults suffer from acne too. It is estimated that in the United States of America, about 50% of all women between the age of 20-30 years suffer from adult acne at one point. For men, the percentage is lower, but therefore often more severe when it strikes. In this article, we will cover some adult acne treatments that are available to you.
But before we go into actual detail about the different adult acne treatments, it's important that you are very aware of the causes of acne. Because if you are not, then you might end up trying to fix acne on the surface of your skin, when it is really a much deeper problem than just "skin deep".
The reason why you have acne is NOT that your pores are clogged. It is NOT that the sebaceous glands of your skin produce too much sebum (the oily substance on your skin). It is NOT Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. And it is NOT even about an hormonal imbalance.
You see, in a way - all of these really are "reasons" and "causes" for your acne. But there is ONE underlying cause for all of them - and if you fix THAT, you can kiss your acne goodbye. I'll talk more about that in a minute.
But for now, you really want to understand that it is not enough to fight the P. acnes bacteria on the surface of your skin. Yes, they are involved in the process that leads to the eruption of acne - but simply killing the bacteria is no way to get rid of acne permanently. Because the reason that brought the bacteria there and allowed them to proliferate are still there. So it's almost a safe bet to say that they will return, and you will suffer from acne remission.
It's also not enough to "unclog" your pores by getting rid of the excessive oil (which is not really oil - it's sebum. But since almost nobody makes that distinction, I am going to keep using the word oil here too). Because while there are very effective treatments that can help you to get rid of the oil in the pores of your skin, they don't really help to unclog the pores in the long run. Quiet the contrary. Because your skin needs a certain amount of oil in order to function and protect itself against outside influences. If you constantly remove the oil, then your body realizes: "There's not enough oil on the skin! Make more oil, quickly, we need more oil!" And your sebaceous glands really start pumping the stuff out even more. This in turn will clog up your pores at the deepest level, and thus make the problem worse in the long run.
Apart of all that, the many benzoyl peroxide cleansers that work for teenagers are often not appropriate for adults. Because the skin of an adult is different from the skin of a teenager. It isn't as elastic, and it needs longer to rehydrate. Many of the treatments that can be used for teenagers are simply to harsh and aggressive for adult skin.
And trying to manipulate your hormone production chemically is not a good adult acne treatment either. Because it is almost impossible to "fine tune" the right amount of hormone production by using prescription drugs. Yes, it is very easy to reduce the amount of male hormones that your body is producing. And it is true that it's an excessive amount of male hormones that is causing your sebaceous glands to grow and produce too much sebum. But it's also true that you need a certain level of male hormones in your body, whether you are a man or a woman.
Having to little male hormones can be even worse than having too much of it. So what is a good adult acne treatment then? One that helps your body to use it's own natural mechanisms to restore the hormonal balance of your body.
And surprisingly, you do NOT need to take any kind of pills, or potions, or supplements, or sprays, or anything of that kind. You can help your body to restore it's natural hormonal balance by implementing a few sipmly, but systematic lifestyle and diet changes into your life. This is by far the best adult acne treatment. There are no side effects, and you will start to see drastic improvements within days if you follow this simple system step-by-step, and you can except to have your acne be completely (and more important: permanently) gone in less than two months.
